BJP deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde has been appointed chairman of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a post vacated by expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh.
Another senior BJP leader and former external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha has been appointed chairman of the Committee on External Affairs.
Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar has made these appointments with effect from January six, a Lok Sabha bulletin said.
The post of PAC chairperson, which goes to the main opposition, fell vacant after Singh resigned from the post.
Munde, who was recently appointed deputy leader after the elevation of Sushma Swaraj as leader of opposition, will continue to head the prestigious committee till March 31 as the chairperson is chosen for a period of one year.
Sinha will head the Committee on External Affairs, a post held by Swaraj earlier.
