After news broke that some students were arrested in the middle of the night at FTII by police, social media was outraged by the event. The arrest came after a warrant was issued against 30 students.

The incident came a day after several students had gheraoed the director Prashant Pathrabe on Monday to protest the administration’s decision to conduct assessment of incomplete diploma film projects of the 2008 batch, which they called "irrational, unjustified and unfair."  The arrests came hours after it was decided that I&B ministry officials would visit the institute to resolve the issue. The students have been striking for the last 69 days over the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan. (Read: LIVE: Police conduct FTII Raids at midnight
