Four accused including one constable have been arrested in connection with the gang-rape and murder of two minors in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district.

On Wednesday, two Dalit teenage sisters were allegedly gang-raped and murdered with their bodies found hanging from a tree in Katra village of the district.

The two girls, who were cousins and aged 14 and 15 years, went missing from their house on Tuesday night. "We found the dead bodies hanging from a tree. We have arrested a constable along with 3 others," said Superintendent of Police, City, Man Singh Chauhan.

Condemning the incident, National Commission of Women (NCW) member Nirmala Samant, said: "Its a horrific crime, we will be sending a team there to investigate matter." "Government has promised that they will provide women safety. But it has not fulfilled yet.Till the government doesn't give the example of protection for girls from rape, molestation. Such kind of incident will go on," she added.
