Five persons were killed in two separate accidents in Nashik in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Three persons including a woman were killed and 15 others injured when a Tata Winger vehicle and an MSRTC bus collided head-on on the Mumbai-Agra highway around 2.45am on the bridge over Panganga river near Khanderao temple.

According to Ojhar police, the Winger, which was plying in direction of Nashik, broke the divider and collided with the MSRTC bus moving in the opposite direction to Nandurbar.

Three persons tavelling in the Winger — Sumaiyya Sheikh Amid (35), Amir Sheikh Sadiq (38) and Riyazuddin Kamruddin (34) — all Malegaon residents, were killed on the spot.

15 people travelling in the bus and in the Winger were injured. They were admitted in the Nashik civil hospital and in HAL hospital in Ojhar.

Traffic on the busy NH-3 was disrupted for a while until the police cleared the road.

Ojhar police have filed a case and are investigating further.

In another accident, two persons on a motorcycle were killed when they were hit by a Bolero coming from the opposite direction on the road between Makhmalabad naka and Peth naka in Nashik around 9.30pm on Sunday.
Prasad Akhade and Samadhan Murtadak, both residents of Makhmalabad road, were going towards Peth Naka when they were hit by the Bolero near Petkar plaza.

Panchavati police said that the Bolero was at high speed and the driver lost control over it, dashing the vehicle onb the road divider and then hitting the motorcycle.

Akhade, who was riding the motorcycle, died on the spot while Murtadak, who riding pillion, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The Bolero also hit a rickshaw which was plying behind the motor cycle and injured its rickshaw driver, Dhananjay Chowdhary.

The driver of the Bolero, identified as Bhausabe Datir, is absconding.

A case has been filed by the cousin of Prasad Akhade with Panchavati police who is investigating.
