FIR registered against teacher for harassing minor

The Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has filed an FIR against a teacher for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl at school premises in West Khasi Hills, officials said today.

The Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has filed an FIR against a teacher for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl at school premises in West Khasi Hills, officials said today.

"We filed the FIR against the teacher yesterday for harassing the girl," SCPCR chairperson Meena Kharkongor said.

The matter came to light on March 23 when the girl informed the executive district magistrate about the incident during a routine inspection at the school, Deputy Commissioner A Kembhavi said.

A district committee constituted to probe the allegation found the teacher guilty, Kembhavi.

The accused was then suspended from the school. He was arrested since no FIR was registered against him, he said
