Busy making efforts for boosting sluggish export potential from the state, regional office of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) would soon start short-term courses for the exporters of the region.

To start with, the organisation would start three certified courses in exports and related aspects. The exporters would be imparted information on key issues such as banking, finance, currency exchange rate, customs and central excise, incentives, claims, export policy changes and others.
These courses are aimed at enabling exporters in utilising available resources for maximising gains.

Export scenario in Madhya Pradesh could be gauged from the fact that the state only contributes by around 2% in overall exports at national level. FIEO, Indore is working on a diagnostic study for boosting exports from the state. Organisation's regional officer Rajiv Bhatia said that soybean, auto components, pharmaceutical products and handicraft products are predominant export commodities from the state but this only helps in meager export figure of 2% for MP, Bhatia said. Bhatia though claimed that export could rise to around four times in 5 years if exporters be judicious & keep availing benefits of government sops.

Explaining low level of awareness among exporters in India, the FIEO office bearers claimed that thousands of exporters across the country availed benefits of Centre's interest subvention scheme but in MP, such beneficiaries were handful. Besides, FIEO is also making exporters aware about the potential areas such as packaging, which holds significance to sectors like edible items.

Iran likely to be new export destination
According to FIEO estimates, regional exporters could eye Iran as the new export destination. The organisation claims that India is one among few selected countries which has trade ties with Iran.
There were some payment and other issues in the past but these problems have been sorted out now, claims the organisation.
