Ruling out that he is going to New Delhi as the new Defence Minister, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said ministers are not appointed on the basis of newspaper reports.

Speaking to a few mediapersons outside Vidhan Bhavan, Fadnavis ridiculed media reports which speculated his appointment as defence minister and PWD minister Chandrakant Patil replacing him as Maharashtra Chief Minister.

In a lighter vein Fadnavis said that it was nothing but a rumour spread through WhatsApp groups and social media. When asked about the same, he said, “such decisions are not taken on the basis of media reports.”

This is not the first time that Fadnavis’ name did rounds on social media. Earlier, when Sushma Swaraj was taken ill, there were rumours that Fadnavis will replace her as Minister for External Affairs.
