Emu farm owner detained under Goondas Act

The owner of Susi Emu farm, arrested for allegedly defrauding investors of crores of Rupees in a bogus scheme has been detained under the Goondas Act in five other cases, police said.

The owner of Susi Emu farm, arrested for allegedly defrauding investors of crores of rupees in a bogus scheme has been detained under the Goondas Act in five other cases, police said.

One of the cases against MS Gurusamy pertains to cheating the public in the name of former President Abdul Kalam by publishing his photo along with him,stating he inaugurated his trust and greeted him, they said.

Kalam's Personal Secretary RK Prasad had filed a complaint with Erode Collector on August 14,2011 stating Guru had met Kalam just like other members of the public and had taken a photo.

Police said the order in this regard was served on him by the Economic Offences Wing at Central prison in Coimbatore, where he is now lodged.

The EOW had already arrested Gurusamy on complaints by investors, police said, adding a huge amount of money was involved in the commercial emu firm scam.

Already 61 persons, including 10 emu farm owners, have been arrested for allegedly cheating the investors.

Police said Gurusamy has collected more than Rs220 crore from investors and granted interest to them, paid salaries to employees and for other expenses, including advertisements to the tune of Rs160 crore.

They said they had prepared a preliminary chargesheet against him with regard to cheating investors

Guruswamy already has 25 cases registered against him

Meanwhile the district collector ordered his detention under the Goondas act after verifying the EOW's representation and recommendation to detain him under Goondas Act.
