Election Commission transfers three DMs, two SPs in Bihar

The Election Commission today transferred district magistrates of Purnia, Supaul and Samastipur as well as superintendents of police of Bhojpur and Darbhanga following poll-related complaints by political parties and other lapses.

The Election Commission today transferred district magistrates of Purnia, Supaul and Samastipur as well as superintendents of police of Bhojpur and Darbhanga following poll-related complaints by political parties and other lapses.

Purnia DM Manish Kumar Verma has been replaced by North Bihar Power Distribution Company (NBPDC) Managing Director Sanjay Kumar Agrawal, Supaul DM Lakshmi Prasad Chauhan has been replaced by Bihar Rural Livelihood Project Additional CEO Adesh Titarmare, while Samastipur DM Navin Chandra Jha's place has been given to Horticulture Director Ajay Yadav.

Similarly, Bhojpur SP Satyaveer Singh has been replaced by CID (Weaker Section) SP Kim, and Darbhanga SSP Kumar Ekle has been replaced by Patna Traffic SP Rajiv Mishra.

Talking to reporters Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Lakshmanan said, "The transfers have been done by the EC on the basis of inputs from various sources. Ara (Headquarter) DSP Tauheed Parvez will also be transferred." The transfers are being seen as a fallout of various complaints lodged by political parties, candidates and other persons with the EC.

A BJP delegation led by Deputy Speaker Amarendra Pratap Singh and party General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy met Election Commissioners HS Brahma and Nasim Zaidi on Friday and complained about the DMs of Purnia and Supaul, as well as, Ara DSP.

Sources said the EC might act against a few other officials.
