Eighteen can bombs unearthed in Jharkhand's Khunti district; explosives were planted deep underneath kutcha road

Eighteen can bombs planted underneath a kucha road have been recovered in naxal-affected Khunti district, a police officer said on Friday.

The security personnel detected wire lying on the road between Fadinga-Turang villages during routine long-range patrolling in the naxal-infested area yesterday, Superintendent of Police Anis Gupta said.

They used deep search metal detector to spot the explosives, which were coated with carbon, he said The can bombs, each weighing between 15 to 20 kg, were connected in a series.All the bombs have been defused, he said.

The search operation was led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Ops) P R Mishra and Sub-divisional Police Officer A Singh. Meanwhile, the district police force have arrested one ultra belonging to People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) from Karra police station of the district.
