Early showers bring solace, but scorching sun soon takes over

Several parts of the state including the capital Jaipur witnessed light to moderate rainfall on Thursday.

The fresh spell of showers brought minimum temperature below normal. But  blistering sun post noon surged the temperature once again to above 40 degrees mark.

Thursday morning in city was welcomed by moderate to light rains accompanied by wind and lightning. Showers soaked Vidyadhar Nagar, Murlipura, Vaishali Nagar, Nirman Nagar, Ajemr Road, Gopalpura byepass, Malviya Nagar, Jagatpura, Tonk Road, JLN Marg, Shastri Nagar and many area in Walled City. The rain resulted in water logging in low-lying areas of the city that affected traffic including offices goers.

This was the third spell of rains in Jaipur during the last 10 days. As per the MeT report, rainfall of 17.6 mm was recorded in city on Thursday. Maximum temperature, though, recorded at 39 degrees celsius but minimum temperature fell to 18.4 degrees celsius, 10 degrees below normal.

According to MeT forecast, dust storm or thunderstorm with rain likely to occur while maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 40 and 26 degrees celsius respectively during the next 24 hours.

As per MeT report, light to moderate rainfall occurred at isolated places in Jaipur, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions during last 24 hours. Surajgarh, Pilani and Anupgarh each received 30 mm rainfall while Sikar, Chirawa, Kaman and Karanpur each observed 20 mm rainfall.

The highest maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees celsius was recorded at Churu in the state followed by Barmer at 42.8 degrees celsius. Maximum temperature at Bikaner, Jaislamer, and Kota recorded at 42.5, 42.4 and 42.1 degrees respectively.

As per weathermen, dust storm or thunderstorm with rain very likely to occur at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hours.
