While Kashmir was reeling under violence, protests and strikes after the killing of Burhan Wani last year, separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani's grandson secured a government job, reported Times of India.

The report said that flouting rules and regulations, Geelani's grandson Anees-ul-Islam was appointed research officer in Sher-e-Kashmir international convection complex (SKICC), a subsidiary wing of the J&K tourism department. Sources told the daily that the pensionable job fetches an annual salary of Rs 12 lakh.

However, Tourism secretary Farooq Shah, who was also the chairman of senior selection committee, said that Anees's selection was made after following proper rules. "We invited applications from candidates; he was found fit for the post," he told the daily.

But Anees has not been paid as his CID verification is still pending.

Anees has done an MBA in Punjab and another Masters in Business Administration from the UK.
