The All-India Trinamool Congress (AITC) on Monday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his claims at a rally in West Bengal's Midnapore and alleged that the rally was attended by mostly people from neighboring states, like Jharkhand, Orissa.

Addressing a farmers rally in Midnapore town, Modi in a veiled attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the 'syndicate' is playing vote bank politics to remain in power.

The prime minister also took a jibe at the chief minister for putting her banner around the city just before his visit. "I am thankful to Mamata didi for putting up so many flags to welcome me here. She herself is standing with joined hands in the hoardings to welcome me."

"We clearly know the condition of Bengal right now. No benefits to farmers, no opportunities for youths. I hope West Bengal government will take required steps to create infrastructure for farmers, we want our farmers to use the latest technology," he said.

However, in a point-by-point rebuttal to PM Modi, TMC said that the BJP should not play with fire, accusing the party of being a syndicate that peddles religious extremism, lynching, and corruption.

In a statement issued on the website, Trinamool Congress listed five 'Fake versus Fact' to counter Modi's claim and asked the BJP to try as they may to harass them with their agencies, but they will not bow down to any syndicate.

"Bengal is for all. It is the cultural capital of the world. The BJP leader’s speech proved that they have no development agenda at all. He came and gave a political bhashan. The net result is ZERO, ZERO, ZERO,"

Meanwhile, TMC also expressed concern over those who were injured at the rally and said all assistance and help will be provided to the injured. "The organisers of this rally must take responsibility for this lapse," it said. A makeshift tent collapsed during Modi's rally, injuring at least 24 people.

Here is a point-by-point reply to the fake allegations raised by the BJP leader:

Fake versus Fact #1

The BJP leader claimed that he saw hundreds of Mamata Banerjee posters while coming in. These are for 21st July Shahid Dibas or Martyrs Day rally which is in its 25th year (some of these banners were defaced and torn down by workers of his party.)

Fake versus Fact #2

The meeting was attended by mostly people from neighbouring states, like Jharkhand, Orissa, and even vehicles from Patna were spotted. There were hardly any locals or farmers. There was lot of corporate money spent for this political meeting but what has been the net result? How have the farmers benefited.

Fake versus Fact #3

May we now ask the BJP leader how he plans to double farmers’ income? It was a promise made many years ago in his party’s Manifesto, but still not delivered. Let us share with the BJP leader some figures about Bengal.

In Bengal, farmers’ income has gone up 3.2 times in seven years. In 2011, it was Rs 91,000 and last year it went up to is Rs 2,90,000.

Fake versus Fact #4

Here is a Parliamentary report giving farmer suicide figures:

In the first quarter of 2017, the number of farmer suicides in Maharashtra was 635 while the figure for Bengal was zero.

Hope the BJP leader has got his answer. These numbers tell the true story of the farmers’ situation in the country and their condition in Bengal.

Fake versus Fact #5

Syndicate – Who knows better than the BJP leaders about syndicate?

Your party is a syndicate that peddles religious extremism.

Your party is a syndicate for fanatics.

Your party is a lynching syndicate.

Your party is a torture syndicate.

Your party is a syndicate of corruption. So, BJP leaders should not play with fire.

Try as you may to harass us with your agencies, we will not bow down to any syndicate.

Bengal is for all. It is the cultural capital of the world. The BJP leader’s speech proved that they have no development agenda at all. He came and gave a political bhashan.

The net result is ZERO, ZERO, ZERO.
