Union Minister and son of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, MK Azhagiri on Sunday was absent from the party's last general council meet, giving heat to information about the fight between DMK Treasurer MK Stalin and Alagiri on Friday.

He is known to be angry over Karunanidhi's silence over his successor. Azhagiri was strongly in favour of their 87-year old father continuing to lead the party.

Earlier on Sunday, the DMK announced that M Karunanidhi would continue to lead the party and make no change to its alliance with the Congress.
