After spending three days in Kashmir meeting people from various sections of society, Centre's Special Representative Dineshwar Sharma kicked off Mission Jammu on the second leg of his outreach programme on Thursday.
Soon after landing in Jammu, an eight-member delegation of the BJP led by its state president Sat Sharma called on Sharma. The meeting lasted for half-an-hour and the leaders discussed the over-all situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We discussed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. It was our first meeting," said Sunil Sethi, chief spokesman of BJP in the state.

Sharma also met Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra at the Raj Bhavan at Jammu on Thursday.

An official spokesman said Sharma informed Vohra about his talks with various individuals and groups in the Valley and the major concerns which had been voiced by those he had met on his first visit to Kashmir.
"Governor suggested to Sharma that, notwithstanding any initial reservations in some groups, he must sustain the dialogue and hear one and all; particularly elements of the society who apparently held contrary convictions", the spokesman said.

He also called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Sharma is scheduled to meet more than 26 different delegations, political parties on Friday apart from meeting the locals.

Seemingly unimpressed by Centre's Mission Kashmir, National Panthers Party (NPP) questioned Sharma to spell out the 'Peace Talks' held in the Valley.

"Is he aware about the situation of thousands of minor youth in J&K? Does he know how many of them are rotting in the prisons of Kashmir? Does he know that Fundamental Rights are not available to the Indian citizens in J&K?", said Prof Bhim Singh, NPP Supremo.

However major trade and business bodies boycotted Sharma, despite receiving the formal invitation call from the divisional administration.

Singh asked Sharma to return to New Delhi with files and try to understand Jammu and Kashmir situation like Nehru, Indira.

Before flying to Jammu, Sharma called on Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh at his residence and discussed in detail different issues related to Jammu and Kashmir. "Interlocutor Shri Dineshwar Sharma called on me at Srinagar and discussed the various issues related to Jammu and Kashmir" tweeted Dr Singh.

Joint Resistance Leadership — an amalgam of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani, Moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik — have already ruled-out talks with the interlocutor terming it an 'exercise in futility'.

No-shows

In the Valley, while Sharma held talks with state government officials and locals, major trade and business bodies boycotted his invitation for discussion like the joint leadership of the separatists in the state.
