Delhi: Two Afghan nationals among four held for heroin trafficking

Four persons, including two Afghan nationals, have been arrested for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking as police recovered from them around 900 gram of heroin worth Rs one crore in international market.

The arrested have been identified as Hamidullah and Mohd Eshan alias Habib alias Abdul Rehman, both Afghan nationals and Saifullah and Sajid, both of whom belong to Kerala.

"We have busted an international drug racket and arrested three members of the syndicate on Sunday. They were running a heroin smuggling racket in Delhi. 890 gram heroin was recovered from them," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Rajeev Ranjan.

Information was received that an international module of drug traffickers is operating in India and drugs in huge quantity is being supplied from across the border.

On Sunday, a raid was conducted at Lajpat Nagar area and three persons Hamidullah, Saifullah and Sajid were apprehended near Kasturba Niketan, Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, when Hamidullah was handing over drugs to other two persons, police said.

"300-300 gram of heroin was recovered from the possession of Saifullah and Sajid respectively and 290 gm of was recovered from Hamidullah. They were booked under the NDPS Act and arrested," he said.

During interrogation, Hamidullah, claimed police, disclosed about another Afghan national identified as Mohd Eshan, who is his master and had come with him from Afghanistan. He was arrested yesterday from Kasturba Niketan, Lajpat Nagar.

He is being further interrogated to unearth the whole conspiracy in this drug syndicate, police said.
