One of the four convicts sentenced to death in the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, has claimed that he was beaten up and abused by inmates at Tihar Jail.

Vinay Sharma has claimed his arm had been fractured in the attack, has moved court demanding security. His counsel has moved an application in court, which will hear the matter next Tuesday.

Four convicts are lodged within high security walls in Tihar Jail, while a court hears their appeals against the death sentence.

In March 2013, one of the convicts, Ram Singh, had committed suicide in Tihar Jail. But his family members claimed it was murder.

On December 16, 2012, six people including a minor had assaulted a woman and her friend in a bus while they were returning from a movie. They tortured and gang raped the woman and beat up the friend. The woman died in a Singapore hospital on December 29 even as large scale protests engulfed Delhi.

Fresh outrage had started last year when one of the convicts in the case, Mukesh Singh, made certain comments in a documentary by filmmaker Leslee Udwin, that showed he felt no remorse for his acts.
