Dalit beggar thought to be thief mercilessly beaten to death in Bihar

A dalit man was today beaten to death by unidentified persons in a locality in Bihar's Nawada district, a police officer said.
Perceiving him to be a thief, unidentified men of Mirzapur locality situated near the railway line overpowered the dalit man, identified as Doman Manjhi, while he was urinating.

They mercilessly beat him up as a result of which he died on the spot, Town police station in-charge Prakash Sinha said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, he said.
A case has been lodged in this connection.
The victim used to reside near platform number two of Nawada railway station with family members and earn his livelihood through begging, the police officer said.
