With the arrest of 15 alleged bookies, a cricket betting racket was smashed in Machilipatnam town of Krishna district. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a rented house in the town last night and nabbed the bookies.
Besides, Rs1.10 lakh in cash, two television sets and 29 mobile phones were seized from them, Machilipatnam circle inspector Muralidhar said on Tuesday. Two of the arrested - N Lakshminarayana and M Anandbabu - were allegedly leading the racket for betting on 20-20 cricket matches, he said.
Chilakalapudi police have registered a case and further investigation was on.
