Court awards Rs 20.65 lakh compensation to mishap victim's kin

A local court on Monday awarded Rs 20.65 lakh compensation to the family of a person who died in an accident in 2007.

The deceased Murugan was walking when a lorry hit him on August 25,2007, killing him on the spot. His wife and daughter filed a petition in the court, claiming Rs 30 lakh compensation.

Chief Judicial Magistrate K. Purna Jaya Anand pronounced order awarding 20.65 lakh as compensation to the petitioners to be paid by the New India Assurance company.
