The Haryana Police on Sunday booked Dera Sacha Sauda's Chief Spokesperson Aditya Insaan for sedition and waging war against the State following orders from the Punjab and Haryana High Court that had directed cops to investigate news reports stating that he had instigated crowds in Panchkula on Friday.

"Guruji (Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh) ka sir kaatne ki baat ki jaati hai. In logon ko boycott kiya ja raha hai yahan. Kaha ja raha hai ki ye dusre darje ke naagrik hain. Aapko wo haq nahi milenge. Aap ghatiya ho. Aap neech ho. Kya inko jeene ka haq nahi hai?" Aditya Insaan had reportedly said while talking to the media in Panchkula's Sector 4 on Friday, even as thousands of Dera followers sitting behind him looked on.

An hour before Ram Rahim was pronounced guilty on rape charges by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court in Panchkula, Aditya Insaan had met thousands of Dera followers sitting on roads, awaiting the verdict. He had blamed the media for running a trial that led to the Dera chief's conviction.

Minutes later, mobs went on the rampage and 36 people were killed in widespread violence, arson and police firing.

"If reporters stand by their reports, the police must register an FIR," the court had directed the Haryana government, adding that the law must take its own course.

When asked by the media why followers did not return home after the Dera chief's appeal a night before the hearing, Aditya Insaan had said it was a culmination of suppression of the last 15 years.

An ophthalmologist who studied at AIIMS and now heads the eye bank of one of the largest hospital chains operated by the Dera, Aditya Insaan had invoked incidents from the past and blamed the media, "Humein kaha jaata hai, ki ye log manhoos hai. Ye log behuda hai. Ye log ghatiya hai. In logon ko desh ki aabo-hawa mein, iss savindhan ke andar barabari ke haq se jeene ka adhikar nai."

When asked, if his words will end up instigating the followers, he had said, "Understand the pain that Dera followers bear."

"There are under-privileged persons, old women, children sitting in gatherings and they are being told, 'Ye yahan baithe kyun hai? Inko jeene ka haq nai hai.' Some people are saying that the police will use pellets at them. Are they pelting stones at the Army like they do in Jammu and Kashmir? Are they helping militants escape?" Aditya Insaan had asked. He has been associated with the Dera for the last two decades.
