The beleaguered Aam Aadmi Party was spared further bombshells on Thursday, allowing it to regroup and put on a semblance of defence. On Wednesday, after a telephonic recording of Arvind Kejriwal asking his former Rohini MLA Rajesh Garg to get six Congress MLAs to break away from their party and give support to the AAP to reform government in Delhi took the capital by storm, and the party drew heavy criticism for straying so far from its own principles by trying to poach MLAs, playing communal politics of targeting Muslim Congress MLAs who would not join the BJP.

Adding to the deluge of sting operations in recent days, former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan jumped into the fray, saying he had a sting on AAP leader Sanjay Singh who he had met at a senior journalist's house in Noida a few months ago, in late 2014. According to Khan, AAP was trying to offer ministerial posts to Congress MLAs to support the party. However, Congress high command said no.

Party spokesperson Sanjay Singh on Thursday said that the party would not deny meeting Congressmen. Singh added, "It is well known that when we wrote to the Lieutenant Governor we were trying to form government again in Delhi. We had to stop the BJP from coming to power." He said that meeting did happen, but it it was only to discuss the possibility of forming government on similar lines of the 49 day government. Going on the offensive Singh then levied similar charges of backroom deals on Khan, saying, "Asif Khan had been meeting BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri in Shangri-La Hotel. He and Congress MLAs even met Nitin Gadkari. The BJP was offering them ministerial posts in the Delhi government, even the chief minister's post." He said the party welcomes the "sting" as Khan had been talking about it for six months now, without actually showing anything.

Both Singh and Khan refused to divulge the identity of the journalist, who was apparently the mediator of this particular meeting.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Garg put out yet another phone recording, this from Thursday afternoon. the recording is of Garg being threatened by someone who calls himself an "AAP fan", telling Garg to not take this matter forward. The authenticity of this recording is yet to be established, though Garg says that filed a police complaint immediately after receiving the call.
