At the time when stakes of newly forged AAP-Congress alliance are really low, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh here on Saturday affirmed that Congress would continue to support the AAP government in Delhi for five years.

Significantly, earlier in the day, Arvind Kejriwal was sworn in as the youngest chief minister of Delhi.

Interestingly, it was Singh who had challenged Kejriwal to win elections to prove his mettle last year.

Singh, however, during his visit to the city on Saturday, congratulated Kejriwal on his feat.  Talking to media persons, he went on to term Aam Aadmi Party’s emergence as a positive sign in Indian politics.

He exhorted people who keep protesting on streets to join politics.

“The Congress would continue its support to APP government and this government would complete its tenure,” Singh affirmed. Asked on AAP’s plan to field poet turned political activist Kumar Vishwas from Amethi against AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, the former chief minister responded by only saying that let him contest.

On the political challenge posed by BJP and AAP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Singh clarified that fight of Congress is against ideologies and not against any political outfit. “We are fighting against that ideology which assassinated Mahatma Gandhi and is trying to divide the country,” Singh claimed.

Taking a swipe at BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Singh claimed that Modi has assigned his PR task to the agency which has handled similar task for four or five dictators in the world.

“Apco Worldwide is the agency which goes to any extent in boosting image of its clients,” Singh alleged.
