Terming the Centre's decision to increase excise duty on petrol and diesel as "insensitive", Congress on Friday said it seems the government which came to power promising good days is "acting" to increase inflation.

"This is insensitivity of the Modi government which is not providing benefit to people and making profit," Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president Sachin Pilot said in a statement. "The government's decisions are raising inflation and it appears that the NDA government, which came in power by promising good days, is acting to increase inflation," he said.

Pilot alleged that the BJP-led Central government has no achievement to mention. "The government is misleading people on the issue of bringing black money from foreign banks and this is the only achievement of the Modi government," the former Union minister said. On Thursday, the Union government raised excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre each.
