CM Mufti Sayeed condoles death of two Jammu & Kashmir pilgrims in Hajj stampede

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Tuesday condoled the death of two pilgrims from the state in the Hajj stampede last week.

On Sunday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had put the death toll in the Hajj stampede in Mina at 1090, much higher than the figure of 769 given by Saudi authorities. Those killed in the stampede included 45 Indians.

In his condolence message, Sayeed expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.

The Chief Minister, who also heads the State Hajj Committee, offered condolences to the family members of all those Hajjis who lost their lives in the tragic stampede at Mina last week.

"My heart goes out to those who lost their near and dear ones in the tragic stampede at Mina. I pray to Almighty Allah to rest departed souls in peace," he said.

The Chief Minister also prayed for speedy recovery of those pilgrims from J-K, who were injured in the unfortunate incident. The Chief Minister directed the State Hajj Committee to coordinate with the concerned authorities for providing best possible medical treatment to the injured Hajjis for their speedy recovery.

According to Hajj Committee of India, two Hajjis have died in the Mina stampede from the state, who have been identified as Abdul Salam Dar (JKR-9416-2-0), resident of HMT Road, Zainakote area of Srinagar and Mehraj-ud-din Ganai (JKR 6955-2-0), resident of Patlipora Bala, Chatabal, Srinagar.
