The Gautam Budh Nagar police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two teachers and the principal of a Delhi school for abatement to suicide, criminal intimidation and assault after a class IX student committed suicide inside her house in sector 52 of Noida, late on Tuesday night.

Following prima facie allegations, police have detained the three for questioning. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

The 15-year-old girl, a student of the Ahlcon Public School in Delhi's Mayur Vihar, was found hanging to a ceiling fan inside her house in sector 52 of Noida on Tuesday. Family members alleged that she committed suicide after going into depression following low marks obtained in the recent exams and harassment by the teachers.

The family members of the girl have named her SST teacher Rajiv Sehgal, science teacher Neeraj Anand for deliberately failing her in their respective subjects and principal of the school for not listening to their respective complaints about the teachers leading to which the girl took this extreme step.

"In the complaint, the family has stated that their daughter was a bright child but was very much worried about her performance in SST and science as the teachers kept on saying that they would fail her in their subjects," said Akhilesh Tripathi, Station House officer, sector 24 police station.

He further said that the teachers would touch the girl with wrong intentions following which the father went and complained to the principal but no action was taken against them.

"On Tuesday evening, the daughter spoke to her father at around 4:15 pm and started crying. She told her father that she tried hard but they deliberately failed her," Tripathi said.

"We have lodged an FIR under sections 306(abatement to suicide), 506(criminal intimidation), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and have added POCSO Act. We are investigating the case from all angles and have detained them for questioning," he added.

Family members of the girl had demanded immediate arrest of the trio.

The girl was dead on  Tuesday evening. Police said her parents were out for some work and they grew suspicious as she did not open the door for a long time when they returned around 5:30 pm.  When they forcibly opened the house door and then that of her room, the girl was found hanging. They rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead on arrival.
