Chhattisgarh girls outshine boys in class XII exam by CGBSE

While the percentage of girls who have passed the exam stood at 75.83% that of boys was at 71.19%.

Girls in Chhattisgarh once again outshone boys in class XII examination conducted by the State Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), results for which were declared on Thursday. While the percentage of girls who have passed the exam stood at 75.83 % that of boys at 71.19 %.

The results were announced by School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap in the presence of department's senior officials at a press conference.

Out of 2,80,329 students who had registered themselves for CGBSE Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination this year, 2,77,114 students, including 1,43,561 boys and 1,33,553 girls, appeared in the examination of which 2,02,646 (73.43%) passed, Kashyap said. The results show that the girls have edged boys out by a low margin.

"While 75.83 per cent girls have passed the class XII examination, the passing percentage for boys is 71.19 %," the minister said.

Shubham Bakshi of Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School in Bilaspur district has secured top position by scoring 97.60%, followed by Sudhanshu Tiwari of Career Point World School in Bilaspur and Rantidev Rathore of Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School Janjgir-Champa district who stood second with the score of 97 per cent.

Shriya Shukla of JR Dani Government Higher Secondary School in Raipur district, Aayush Pandey of Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Korba district and Gaurav Deangwan of Government High School in Bastar district bagged the third position with 95.80 % .

In 2015 also, girls had outperformed boys. While the percentage of girls who cleared the exam had stood at 76.32 % that of boys at 70.72 %.

Congratulating the students, Kashyap said CGBSE, Raipur, is the first board to declare higher secondary examination in entire North India and Central India.
