Campaigning for the first phase elections in South Chhattisgarh reached a crescendo on Friday, as both the ruling BJP and the Congress, indulged in a slugfest of words against each other. Speaking at a rally in the Maoist hotbed of Jagdalpur in Bastar region and then in Rajnandgaon, Prime Minister Modi attacked Congress for backing 'urban Naxals'. PM Modi claimed that urban Naxals (a term coined by UPA government) fanned insurgency through a remote control, while living in the comfort of their air-conditioned houses in big cities.
"The urban Naxals live in AC comfort, travel in big cars and send their children to study abroad. They disrupt peace here using remote control. Why is the Congress supporting urban Naxals who ruin the lives of poor Adivasi youth," PM Modi said.
Condemning the recent murders of a Doordarshan video journalists and security personnel by Maoists, PM Modi asked the public if it is was acceptable, when the Congress leaders called them (Maoists) revolutionaries.
He urged the voters to teach a lesson to "dynast" Congress party that does not think about the future of people but its own good. Modi also invoked Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a native of undivided Madhya Pradesh, crediting him for carving out a separate state of Chhattisgarh.
PM Modi said he has come to Chhattisgarh on the occasion of Bhai Dooj with new proposals of developments. "It is our duty since you have entrusted upon us the responsibility of solving your problems and fulfilling your dreams," PM Modi said.
The PM alleged that during first 10 years of the Raman Singh government, the Congress in the Centre conspired to ensure that no development took place in Chhattisgarh. "When we asked about development in the state, we were told that there cannot be any development as the areas are under Naxal control but we decided to take development to these areas," he said.
