Most banks were not be functional forcing people to do their banking transactions on Thursday.

Staff of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) in Chennai is supporting the nation-wide strike today so bus services are fewer than normal. Protest meetings have been organised at six places in the city and MTC staff would likely be taking part in these meetings.
However, it’s banking services that have taken a major hit due to the strike. More than 15,000 employees from nationalised and private banks were expected to take part in the strike today. Thus, most banks were not be functional forcing people to do their banking transactions on Thursday.
Suburban train services are expected to be normal in the city.
