The Central Bureau of Investigation has summoned AirAsia India Limited director R Venkataramanan on July 3 to question him over alleged corruption while seeking international operations clearances for the carrier from the government.

Venkataramanan is accused in the scam along with AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes, who has not appeared before the agency despite summons. It is alleged that Dubey along with Fernandes tried to manipulate government policies to get international flying licences for AirAsia India. The Bureau has claimed that Dubey received Rs 12 crore kickbacks from AirAsia for lobbying to get civil aviation norms tweaked.

Sources said the agency has grilled AirAsia India's chief finance officer Deepak Mahendra, who has not been named in the case, in a bid to collect evidence.
