CBI arrests Income Tax inspector for taking bribe

A mobile shop owner had complained to the CBI that Income Tax Inspector Mukesh Kumar Meena was demanding Rs 1 lakh from him for settlement of a tax matter, CBI sources said.

An Income Tax inspector was on Wednesday caught red-handed by CBI while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a mobile shop owner in Jodhpur. The CBI sleuths arrested him from the shop and recovered the money from him.

A mobile shop owner had complained to the CBI that Income Tax Inspector Mukesh Kumar Meena was demanding Rs 1 lakh from him for settlement of a tax matter, CBI sources said.

"The deal was finally settled on Rs 50,000, which was agreed to be taken by Meena in two instalments of Rs 25,000 each", said CBI spokesperson R K Gaur.

Meena had visited the shop to collect first instalments of this evening when the CBI sleuths caught him. Gaur said that Meena will produced in the court tomorrow.
