Car pools to ferry crowds for Narendra Modi's Goa rally

BJP party workers will organise car pools to ferry people to the rally of the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, scheduled in Goa later this month, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Wednesday.

Parrikar, speaking to reporters at the Bharatiya Janata Party state headquarters in Panaji, said he would go on a door-to-door campaign, dishing out invitations for what is being billed as Goa's biggest public meeting.

"Buses are in short supply. We would only be able to arrange 700 or 800 buses. So we have asked our people to come by car, and bring neighbours along," Parrikar said, adding that the Jan 12 'NaMo' meeting would be the biggest public gathering Goa has ever seen.

Parrikar said 100,000 people are set to gather to hear Narendra Modi, and each of them would pay Rs.5 for entering the venue of the rally.

An extensive reach-out campaign had been planned by the party to lure a large audience to the meeting, to be held on the outskirts of Panaji.

Parrikar said that in his own constituency, he would invite people to the rally by going door-to-door.

"I will ensure that I will cover at least 10 booths out of 30 in Panaji by going door-to-door to invite people. Our workers will also fan out across Goa doing the same thing," Parrikar said.

The Goa meeting is one of 100 public rallies planned by the BJP featuring Modi, ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
