Lifting the veil of secrecy over his meeting with Art of Living Foundation founder Sri Sri Ravishankar, Muzaffar Ahmad Wani, father of slain Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) poster boy Burhan Wani, said that he batted for the Kashmir cause and told the spiritual guru that a dialogue between India, Hurriyat and Pakistan is the way out.

Talking to dna, Wani said that he he had gone to the Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research Hospital for diabetes treatment and that is when he met the Art of Living Foundation founder and apprised him of the real situation in Kashmir.

"I preferred to stay in the ashram, instead of a hotel, because I thought I will be safe there. Sri Sri had called me to condole the death of Burhan. I had known him by telephone only. I met Sri Sri and he inquired me about my sons. I told him one was killed in what they showed as encounter and another (Burhan) had left home to fight the oppression. After his killing, the unrest began in the valley," said Wani.

Wani, who had stayed for two days in the ashram, said he told Sri Sri that they (people of Kashmir) should be given their rights. "If you suppress (the current movement) by any means, it will again rise after a few months. This movement started in 2008, then in 2010, and now in 2016. A solution should be found once and for all," he said.

Quoting Sri Sri, Wani said that he had asked what could be the solution (to the Kashmir issue). "It is a tripartite issue. India, Pakistan and the genuine Kashmiri representatives, like Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Geelani, who represents the entire Kashmir, should hold unconditional talks. Unconditional dialogue means there should be no condition of Indian Constitution," he said.

He said that they (separatists) will put across their point of view and the India government will also put forth their viewpoints. "Jammu, Ladakh, Kashmir and everyone will be there who will put across their viewpoints and discuss.. There would be a first round, second round and more," he said.

Wani said Hurriyat leaders should be allowed to go to Pakistan to meet the leaders there. "HuM leader Syed Salahudin, whose original name is Mohammad Yusuf Shah, is there (in Pakistan). They (Hurriyat) will talk to him," he said.

Wani, who is a principal in a government school, said he found Sri Sri positive. "He (Sri Sri) too wants the issue to be solved. The Kashmir dispute should be solved for posterity. Whether India, Pakistan or India Kashmir or Pakistan Kashmir does it, the issue should be solved," he said.

A statement by the Art of Living Foundation said Muzaffar Wani was in the ashram for two days and it was purely on a personal and humanitarian angle. "Certainly, Sri Sri and Mr Wani discussed about the current situation, about the sufferings and how peace and normalcy can be restored in the valley," the statement said.
