Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi , the AICC President Rahul Gandhi said that bullet trains will never be operational under BJP rule but, if it ever becomes reality, it will be under the Congress government.

“It should not be called Bullet train but a magic train. It will never be operational under the present regime. If at all it will be made a reality, it will be under the Congress government,” said Rahul, who reached Amethi on Wednesday on a two-day tour.

It is worth pointing out that the Mumbai-Ahmebadad bullet train project has run into several problems regarding land acquisition, though the government is confident of finishing the work within stipulated time.

Addressing party workers at Fursatganj, the AICC President said that the country is facing three major challenges – plight of farmers, unemployment among youth and growing inflation. “If more jobs are created and unemployment is tackled effectively, then inflation will automatically come down,” he pointed.

“Earlier, the US used to be the Super Power but now China is giving it a challenge. India has the capability to become a Super Power but the Modi government has pushed the country down. We have to bring back the Congress government again to make India a Super Power,” said Rahul.

The AIIC President alleged that the Modi government and the RSS were destroying the country. “Instead of waiving off farmers’ loans, the Modi government waived loans of top business men. He waived loans of worth Rs 2 lakh crore of 15 top industrialists. There is no money now left in government coffer for farmers and poor in this country,” he charged.

“Modi bowed before the Chinese Premier when he visited Gujarat. In return, Chinese forces intruded Indian boundaries in Ladkah up to Doklam. He went to China but did not speak a word about Chinese intrusion in Doklam,” quipped Rahul while taking a dig at Modi’s foreign policy. “While the Congress unites people of the country irrespective of their caste and religion, the RSS was out to destroy the secular character of the country by dividing people on caste and religious lines,” he claimed.

During his two-day visit, Rahul will meet party workers, hold meetings to discuss Lok Sabha poll strategy and will be back in Delhi on Thursday afternoon. Earlier, he was welcomed by the UPCC Chief Raj Babbar at the Amausi Airport in Lucknow.
