12 minor tribal girl students were allegedly raped by their teachers and headmaster. Aged between 12 and 14, these girls were studying in a private boarding school, Ninadhi Ashran School in Hivarkheda in Bhuldhana district of Maharashtra, 450 km from Mumbai. ANI reported that four more people were held in connection with the case taking the total number of people arrested to 15.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday termed the allegations of rape as "very serious" and said all the accused had been arrested in the case. "All accused have been arrested by the police. A team of police officials led by a woman IPS officer will probe the case. My government has taken cognisance of the incident," Fadnavis said in a statement. The Chief Minister's statement, however, was silent on the exact number of the victims and the accused arrested.

State DGP Satish Mathur had said that eleven persons had been arrested in connection with the case and they were searching for two more accused.

The incident came to light only when three of the 12 girls returned home to Halkheda village in Muktainagar taluka in Jalgaon district. They were taken to the doctor where it was found that they were pregnant. Police told DNA that all the 12 girls had been sent to a hospital in Akola district.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has sought a report on the alleged rape of a minor girl at a government-aided tribal residential school in Maharashtra's Buldhana district. Taking cognisance of media reports, the NCPCR has asked the District Magistrate to submit within a week copies of "the FIR, medical legal report and the statements recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC".
