BJP threatens stir if cases against party men not withdrawn

BJP today threatened to launch a stir here if the cases registered against party men in connection with the clash with police over vehicle parking issues on December 25 were not withdrawn.

Several BJP leaders today met senior police officials of Kanpur, and demanded that the FIR be withdrawn.

On December 25, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday, a clash had broke out between BJP workers and police over parking of vehicles on a busy road near the party's office in Navin Market here.

Several party workers, including three women, were allegedly injured in the incident.

According to a police spokesman, several BJP leaders have been booked under various sections of the IPC for misbehaving with policemen and obstructing them from delivering their duties. Efforts are on to nab them, he added.
