Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay today said that his party has not yet received any invitation or information to form the government in Delhi. Upadhyay told ANI, "Our strategy is clear from day one. We have not received any invitation or information yet."
"Even if these reports are true, we have no information as of now. If we receive any such invitation, we will critically analyze it. And we will think whether we can form the government or not, what is our position and who will support us." "We have never claimed that we want to form the government. Our numbers are still less. We don't know who will give us support. When the invitation comes, we will think about it."
Upadhyay's comments came after media reports said that Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has sent a recommendation to the President to invite BJP, which has the highest numbers in the Delhi Assembly, to form the government in the capital. Another BJP leader Nalin Kohli also told ANI that the BJP had reached where it is today based on the efforts made by its workers.
Kohli said, "The BJP has reached where it is today based on the efforts made and the commitment to its ideology by thousands of its workers for many decades. We are in the service of the nation, unlike the AAP whose whole politics is based on accusations and trying to remain relevant in the media." Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party has termed the reported move as "unconstitutional".
AAP leader Ashutosh told ANI, "It would be unconstitutional if a party that has refused in writing, is invited to form government." Delhi has been under the President's rule since February 17 this year after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister in protest against the Lieutenant Governor's refusal to allow the introduction of the 'Janlokpal Bill' in the Assembly.
