After eluding the cops for almost three-months, automobile businessman Nikhil Priyadarshi, the main accused in a high-profile sexual-exploitation case of the minor Dalit girl, who is the daughter of a former Congress minister, was arrested by police in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

His father Krishna Bihari Prasad Sinha, a retired Bihar government IAS officer, was also arrested with him, when the Audi car they were travelling in was stopped for a routine checking in Pauri Garhwal district of the hill state. "They were acting suspicious and were not carrying any identity proof. We checked on the internet and then talked to Patna police and found out about their criminal antecedents," Pauri Garhwal, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukhtar Mohsin said.

A case against Nikhil was lodged in SC/ ST police station in Patna on December 22, 2016, in which the victim accused him of sexually exploiting her in the name of marriage, running a sex racket and blackmailing and threatening her with dire consequences if she raised filed any FIR.

Nikhil's father, brother Manish and Brajesh Pandey, ex-vice president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) are also booked in the case. Earlier this month, another FIR was lodged against them for revealing the identity of the victim in public. Manish and three other accomplices were arrested by Patna police on Saturday, but Pandey in still on the run.

Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said a team has been dispatched to bring them back to Bihar on transit remand. "Our investigation team was camping on the Uttar Pradesh - Uttarakhand border when we got this news. Once they are brought here, we will get a headway in this case," he said.

Police sources said Nikhil's arrest was likely to lead to revelations of involvement of some high-profile names in the sex racket alleged by the victim. Only last week, Nikhil had reportedly talked to a local newspaper and threatened to expose politicians and police officials by uploading their "explicit video clips" online if he was pressurised to surrender.
