Bihar Polls: Janadhikar Party chief Pappu Yadav releases poll manifesto

Janadhikar Party chief Pappu Yadav on Wednesday released the party manifesto for the Bihar elections and said it would formulate a law making it mandatory for wards of public representatives and government officials to study in government schools.

Yadav said parents of children not going to government schools would have to give clarification for it and they would be deprived of official facilities.

The manifesto proposed to make roads in Bihar toll-free for students and farmers and also proposed to provide 30 per cent subsidy and sales tax concession to students for purchase of Scooty. Janadhikar Party is an important constituent of the Third Front in Bihar elections, which has NCP and Samajwadi Party among others. Its contesting 64 seats in the Bihar elections.

Yadav said parents of families having two girl children would be honoured and a sum of Rs 50,000 would be given for each girl child. He also promised implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations within three months. The manifesto talked about cancellation of licence of shops caught selling fake medicines along with a penalty of Rs 50 lakh.

In the social field, it promised a Rs 10 lakh grant to those going for intercaste marriages and a government job to the wife. The party also promised to check expensive weddings and fixing of an upper limit of Rs 20 lakh, and if the expenditure exceeded the limit, luxury tax would be imposed on such weddings.
