Twenty bright students, who beat all odds to excel in the Class 10 board exams this year, were felicitated on Thursday as part of Zee 24 taas' initiative 'Sangharshala Havi Sath' at the iconic convocation hall at the University of Mumbai's Fort campus. Each student scored 90% and above and will be given financial assistance for higher education under the scheme.

After a month long campaign, several good Samaritans came together to help these students to fulfill their dreams of studying further. The commemorating event was attended by State Education Minister Vinod Tawde, senior Congress leader Harshvardhan Patil, Mumbai University Vice Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh, IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe, IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and several other dignitaries.

"From a simple banana-seller to people earning in lakhs, each and everyone has contributed to the initiative to help these bright students achieve their dreams," said Uday Nirgudkar, CEO and Editor of Zee 24 Taas.

The students took the opportunity to express their happiness and gratitude to the organisers and the donors, while acknowledging their support systems. "I was born in a poor adivasi locality in Dhule district and studied while working as a waiter. I was worried about my higher education, but now I can achieve my dream of becoming a doctor," said Mukesh Pawara, who scored 91.4%.

Sanjay Deshmukh, MU Vice Chancellor, promised to provide free education to all the students shortlisted through the initiative. "Not just these students, but even those from the previous seasons of the initiative, who might want to take up courses at any of the university centres, can do so for free," said Deshmukh.
