Baramullah gunbattle ends; Army guns down one terrorist

A terrorist was shot dead by security forces on Wednesday in the encounter in Baramullah at Rafiabad, Jammu and Kashmir.

The slain terrorist has been identified as Riyaz Ahmad of Brath Kalan, Sopore.

Earlier, in an attempt to smoke out the terrorists that were been hiding in the area, the Army used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the residence where the militants were believed to be hiding. An Army jawan was killed on Wednesday in the encounter between the security forces and the terrorists.

The encounter began in Rafiabad area of the district after security forces, on specific information about the presence of militants, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation at 7 am.
