Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Monday blamed obscenity in electronic media, education system and lack of strict laws for the rising crime against women in the country.

"Crime against mothers, sisters and daughters is on the rise. There are three reasons that contribute to such crimes, one the obscenity shown in electronic media whether it is films, TV serials or advertisements, second our education system which does not stress on values, there is a need to revamp our education system, and third the laws need to be strict," Ramdev told the media here. "There should be fast track courts and strict laws to deter people from committing such crimes," he added.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh earlier in the day said that the rape incident in Delhi last Friday by a cab driver was a blot on the society and stern steps will be taken to check such crimes. Earlier on Friday, a 27-year-old woman working with a finance company in Gurgaon was allegedly raped by an Uber Cab employee when she hired the taxi to go back to her home in Northwest Delhi.

A Delhi Court on Monday sent the cab driver, accused in the rape case, in three days police custody for interrogation. He was arrested on Sunday from Uttar Pradesh's Mathura town. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has banned all operations by private cab service, Uber, in the city with immediate effect after the alleged rape incident on Friday.
