Maharashtra Minister of State for Social Justice, Dilip Kamble today said provisions of Atrocity Act would be applicable in cases of adulteration of food served in hostels of backward class students.

Kamble told the State Legislative Assembly that erring contractors who serve food in hostels for backward classes would be booked under provisions of the Atrocity Act.

He was speaking during a discussion on a calling attention notice on a lizard found recently in the food served at Sant Eknath boys hostel run by the social justice department in suburban Chembur here.
