As Rajasthan keeps its date with polling on Friday, the state election department has made adequate arrangements to ensure free and fair elections. 640 companies of CRPF (Central Reserve Police force) along with 1.44 lakh personnel of the state police have been deployed in 199 assembly constituencies for peaceful voting.

The counting of all seats will take place on December 11 along with the other four states that went to polls.

Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer Anand Kumar, while addressing a press conference informed that adequate arrangements have been made in all polling stations, including those identified as sensitive ones, to ensure fair elections.

"13,832 booths have been identified sensitive, of that we have deployed micro observers in 4,982, videography in 3,948, webcasting in 3,138 and CRPF personnel in 7,791. Nearly, 1,44,941 police personnel along with 640 companies of CRPF will ensure free and fair polling," said Kumar.

The top official added that fresh date of the election in Alwar's Ramgarh constituency, where BSP candidate Lakshman Singh died, has not been finalised by the Election Commission of India (ECI) so far.

It will be the first time that EVM (electronic voting machine) with VVPAT will be used across the state for the polling. Over 2 lakh EVM-VVPAT sets will be used for polling in 199 constituencies. "Three ballot machines will be used in each polling booth of Jaipur's Kishanpole seat where 46 candidates are contesting. There are 33 seats in the state where 2 ballot machines will be used," he said.

When asked about the security of EVM machines, the CEO said as per 'standing operating procedure' all actions will be followed and added that there is no chance of rigging since the storing points will be under the watch of CCTV cameras.

He also rejected any possibility of a time-consuming process of polling due to the installation of VVPAT machines that will consume more time in registering voters and informing voters with the slip.

The election authority has appealed to the people to use C-VIGIL mobile app if they observe any irregularity in the polling.

"So far, the election authorities have received 3,784 complaints, of that 3,098 were found correct and disposed of. Returning officers have dropped 491 complaints," he said adding that no complaint on violation of codes of conduct has been received post the election campaigning ended at 5 pm on Wednesday.
