Armed miscreants today looted Rs 9.5 lakh from a Vananchal Bank branch at Chatarpur in Palamau district, police said.
The miscreants armed with fire-arms arrived in four two-wheelers and took the staff members and customers hostage at gun point and decamped with the booty, said Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Chatarpur), Sanjay Kumar.
The SDPO did not rule out the possibility of local link behind the incident.
Meanwhile, all exit points linking adjoining Garwah district and Aurangabad district of Bihar have been sealed and massive hunt launched to track down the culprits, he said.
Superintendent of Police, Indrajeet Mahatha said the miscreants could sneak into Aurangabad as police detected one speeding four-wheeler followed by a pick van suspiciously moving fast from Tandwa towards the Bihar border.
