Ahead of the start of the assembly session on December 4, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursdsy said DMK legislators would invite 'appropriate action' if they infringed the rights of other members and besmirched the dignity of the House.

Reacting to a remark by DMK treasurer MK Stalin that he expects the government to allow issues to be raised in the ensuing session, Panneerselvam said," the rights of all the members will be protected if they conduct themselves in a manner befitting the House. They (DMK) will only invite appropriate response (action) if they infringe the rights of other members and besmirch the dignity of the House."

"AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa has deep faith in the democratic value of allowing the opposition have its say", Panneerselvam added. The assembly session has been convened by the government following demands by DMK treasurer Stalin and later party chief Karunanidhi to discuss important issues, including a recent hike in milk prices.
