A pall of gloom descended over those who attended the last rites of Gajendra Singh at his native village in Dausa. Politicians, bureaucrats and hundreds of villagers made a beeline to the sun-baked village, some two-hour drive from Jaipur. Representatives of media houses flocked to the site as well, making one of the family members, to comment that, "Another Peepli Live was in progress".

The cremation went off peacefully and there was no untoward incident in the village. This was largely because the local administration was at work since last evening when Gajendra Singh's body was brought from Delhi.

Even though there was no visible face of the state government attending the last rites of Gajendra, they were keeping a tab on the situation. A minister of the state government was in touch with Gopal Singh, the uncle of the deceased farmer, to take feedback and keep the 'situation under control'.

The local administration also ensured that the body was cremated soon after visit by politicians was over.

However, on Wednesday night when the body of Gajendra arrived from Delhi, circle in-charge was contacted by family members to have the body kept at Bachwa police station as they didn't want to take it home due to a wedding ceremony of relative which was in progress there.

They feared it would end up spoiling the celebrations. But the police did not allow the body to remain at police station. So, they were forced to spend the whole night in open shelter while the body was kept near by a roadside dhaba on Jaipur-Delhi highway. The relatives later lodged a complain against the circle in-charge to divisional commissioner Hanuman Singh Bhati, who has reached the village to console the aggrieved family. Bhati assured action against cops involved in this incident.
