Andhra Pradesh: Pregnant woman set ablaze after astrologer predicts baby girl

A pregnant lady from Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district was reportedly set ablaze by her in-laws after an astrologer predicted that she would give birth to a girl. 

According to reports, N Girija and T Srinivasulu, who got married in 2014, are already parents to a girl. Girija's mother-in-law and sister-in-law since then had been harassing her by seeking more dowry. 

After she became pregnant once again, her in-laws visited a local priest praying for a baby boy. But that's when the priest told them that Girija would be giving birth to a girl once again, said reports. 

The in-laws reportedly started forcing Girija to undergo abortion. However, on the night of August 20, in the absence of Srinivasulu, Girija's mother-in-law reportedly tried to set her on fire by pouring acid and kerosene on her stomach while she was sleeping. But luckily, Girija woke up and escaped the house, said a report in The NewsMinute. 

A complaint has been filed against Girija's husband and her in-laws, added the report.
