Andhra Pradesh: Girl kills self after uncle scolds her for speaking on mobile

A girl allegedly committed suicide on Saturday by consuming pesticide at Lingavarigudem village in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh after her uncle scolded her for speaking on mobile phone, police said.

The girl, a class 9 student, took the extreme step by consuming pesticide in her house, a police officer said.

Prima facie, she was speaking to someone on the mobile phone, which she did not own, while she was returning home from school. Her uncle saw this and scolded her. Following this, she got upset and consumed pesticide, the officer said.

According to police a case has been registered and investigations are underway.
