The injured victims and their family members at Civil Hospital and Guru Nanak Dev Hospital had horrific experience with local leaders, social activists and onlookers kept barging into the wards to interact with them. Huge commotion within the wards led police and hospital staff to intervene and stop the leaders from coming inside the wards. To add to the chaos, some were founds taking selfies with victims, as well as leaders and police and hospital staff.

A few were making videos on mobile phones to post it on social media platforms. The commotion reached such a level that a group of people fell down on injured victims — 10-year-old Vishal Shahni and his father Rajesh Sahani. "Why can't they just leave us alone for a while? We are unwell. My son has been sedated and he is sleeping, but these people can't even understand this," Shahni said.

The crowd thinned a little after a senior doctor and police requested them to leave as it was hampering the process of treatment.

Shahni along with his son went to the Jaura Phatak to watch effigies of Ravana burning in flames. "We were not on track. When the stampede took place, we were caught in it. It was god who saved me and my son," he said.

Similarly, 12-year-old Lauv Kush and 14-year-old Sandeep Kumar, both injured along with their father and were hospitalised. "Thank god we were not on the tracks. We got injured after bodies fell over us hitting us hard," said Kush adding that he went blank at the spot only to be found alive early on Saturday morning.

Sandeep Kumar, who works as car mechanic, too has same horrific experience. He said that after completing his work he rushed along with his friends to Dobhi Ghat. "There was huge number of crowd and we were all beside the railway tracks. We were shouting and enjoying the moment and suddenly train came killing everyone on the tracks," he said.

Like Kumar, around 90 people received injuries. Few of them are in critical condition and few received minor injuries and hospitalised in nine hospitals across the city.

Kulwant Singh, who hails from Uttar Pradesh but work in court over here, received head injuries. He said he went alone to watch the Ravana effigies burning and when train came he fell on the ground and got head injuries.
